The FIA is set to host its 25th American Congress in Lima, Peru.

The event will be an opportunity for mobility and motor sport Clubs from across North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean to gather and discuss key issues within the region. It will be hosted by the Touring y Automóvil Club del Perú.

The Congress was first held in Lima in 2008.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “We are delighted to join our North, Central, and South American and Caribbean Member Clubs for this year’s American Congress in Lima, Peru.  The FIA has an immense presence here, and our Club community play a key role in the ongoing development, growth and success of our network.  This week’s meetings represent a great opportunity for us to meet and discuss opportunities within the region and build for a stronger future.”

The three-day event will include meetings and workshops, including those on learning and development, growing motor sport, strategic business partnerships, and value creation for Clubs. On top of a packed event and workshop schedule, delegates will be invited to hear presentations from the Mobility Regions’ first ever FIA Innovation Challenge finalists and attend a prize giving for the winner of the annual José Abed Award. The Award recognises ACNs or ASNs which have driven knowledge-promotion, motor sport participation, regional empowerment, or sport and mobility synergy. The Congress will also host an information session about a new training initiative, FIA Safe Mobility 4All & 4Life, designed in partnership with UNITAR.

Touring y Automóvil Club Perú will host the event, in line with their 100th anniversary year. TACP President Iván Dibós said: “In the centenary of the Touring y Automóvil Club del Perú, it is an honour for us to have the FIA American Congress 2024 in Lima, Peru. We have been committed to promoting automobile sport and road safety during these one hundred years. The American Congress is an opportunity to share experiences, celebrate innovation's legacy, and look forward to achieving a shared vision of success in the American clubs. I hope this event will be productive for all club participants and our countries. ¡Welcome to Lima!”

Congress attendees will come from the FIA’s mobility and motor sport network located across North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Delegates from 31 Clubs will attend the event.

Region III (Canada and North America Mobility Clubs) President Frank Fotia said: “The North American and Caribbean clubs are honoured to join our colleagues in Central and South America for the Congreso.  We value the collaboration opportunities presented and wish to extend our thanks to TACP for hosting in the wonderful city of Lima and congratulate the club on its 100th anniversary.”

Region IV (Central and South America Mobility Clubs) President Ricardo Morales Rubio said: “The American Congress is always a great opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and learn from each other. This year, we celebrate major anniversaries that highlight our history and continuous evolution. These milestones demonstrate the strength and adaptability of our Clubs, and lead us to reflect on a future where collaboration and innovation will be essential.”

FIA Vice President for Sport (South America) Fabiana Ecclestone said: “It is a great opportunity to gather our Members and exchange experiences, projects and ideas. Lima is the perfect location and we can’t thank our host enough for organising this Congress. This year, we are celebrating 120 years of the FIA and the 100th anniversary of TACP. There is nothing more exciting than being able to launch new initiatives while also recognising our history. I thank all the people behind this event that made it possible and worked in every detail for us to be able to deliver our work.”

FIA Vice President for Sport Daniel Coen (North America) said: “The Congress continues to position itself as the main event on the American continent for all Clubs and federations in our region. The opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas and experiences that help the growth of local motorsport is invaluable. We have always known how to take advantage of our American relations. For the Caribbean, which is now undergoing significant growth with new countries joining the FIA and others renewing their activities, this congress is very timely.”

The Congress will take place from the 20th-22nd August. It is invitation only.
