Earlier this year, the Sweden National Motor Sport Team - an initiative of Swedish ASN Svenska Bilsportförbundet - attended a training camp in the USA. In six days with full schedule the national team from five different sports was in the Mecca of American motor sport, Charlotte.

FIA, Motorsport, Mobility, Road Safety, F1, WRC, WEC, WTCC, World RX

The training camp forms part of the Svenska Bilsportförbundet's National Team programme, which nurtures the country's racing talents through a variety of activities ranging from nutrition and fitness training to media instruction and of course driving courses. In attendance were the likes of FIA Formula E star Felix Rosenqvist, FIA World Rallycross drivers Timmy and Kevin Hansen. Gustav Malja from GP2 and from the world of Global Rallycross, Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Eriksson also participated. In total there were thirteen drivers from the national team on the trip, which involved a lot of driving in different cars, a visit to Team Penske and Olsberg MSE, and of course physical workout.

"We are now working hard to develop the national team structure in Swedish motor sport, and this camp has been a big, big step in the right direction", says Sweden National Team coach Magnus Lampert.

"The response from the activity has been entirely positive, and the agenda we managed to get together with the invaluable help of Andreas Eriksson and OMSE has given us a unique insight into the American motor sport culture. The most important thing for us is that our drivers are given the chance to develop in the best way possible within the limits of our resources, and where I believe this type of border exchange is the key. We've definitely got a taste and it is hoped to conduct similar camps to come."
