The African Council on Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTA) hosted a one-day Africa Sub-Regional Road Safety Dialogue in Nairobi, Kenya in early October.

Attendees gathered to discuss high-level issues within the region, and to establish a position and common approach for the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, which will be held in Marrakech in 2025.

The event was supported by the FIA Foundation, and was held in collaboration with the SADC Alliance for Non-Governmental Organizations.

In his keynote address, ACTA President Simon Modisaemang emphasized the need for multi-sectoral collaboration to address issues like adherence to the UN Conventions on Road Safety, Signing of Tripartite Agreements that facilitate safe and sustainable mobility, Road Safety Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation of outcomes-based projects. He also highlighted the importance of road safety advocacy, accurate and up-to-date data for political engagement, and effective programmes within African countries.

ACTA members ultimately resolved to carry out further engagements to help promote and develop regional advocacy, ahead of the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
