The Mecsek Rallye takes place in southern Hungary in the city of Pecs, 200km from the Hungarian capital Budapest.  The rally will feature over 140km of special stages over two days with Leg 1 on Friday 11 October and Leg 2 on Saturday 12 October.

The ceremonial start will take place at Pécs, Pécs Plaza on Thursday 10 October from 16h35.

Leg 1 will consist of six special stages, with three stages run twice.  

SS1 and SS4 is the 13.04km stage at Trefort puszta.  For SS1 the first car is due at 10h03 and at 14h32 for SS4. SS2 and SS5 is the 12.44km stage at Pecsvarad-Zobakpuszta, with SS3/SS6 the 8.34km stage at Arpadteto-Remeteret

Leg 2 will also feature six special stages and like leg one, the three morning stages will be run again in the afternoon.

SS7 / SS10 is the 10.93km Golgota-Hetvehely stage with the first car for SS7 due at 09h43.

SS8 / SS11 is the 12.04km Gorica-Szagy and the Mecsek Rallye will conclude with the 14.02km stage at Alsomocsolad-Mecsekpoloske elag, which will host SS9 and SS12.

About Pécs

Pécs is the fifth largest city in Hungary and is located on the slopes of the Mecsek mountains in the south-west of the country near to the border with Croatia.

The city Sopianae was founded by the Romans. By the 4th century, it became the capital of the Valeria province and a significant early Christian centre. The early Christian necropolis from that era became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 2000.

The first university in Hungary was founded in Pécs in 1367 by Louis I the Great (The largest university still resides in Pécs with about 34,000 students).  Pécs has a rich heritage from the age of a 150-year-long Ottoman occupation, like the mosque of Pasha Qasim the Victorious on Szechenyi square.

In 2010, Pécs was selected to be the European Capital of Culture sharing the title together with Essen and Istanbul. The city's motto is: "The Borderless City". After receiving the title major renewal started in the city. Renewed public places, streets, squares and neighbourhoods, new cultural centres, a concert hall, a new library and a cultural quarter were designed.
