After a year away the FIA World Endurance Championship makes a welcome return to the Bahrain International Circuit for the first 8 Hour race of the 2019/20 season. An additional entry in the LMP2 category by former class champions G-Drive Racing brings the total number of cars entered for the race up to thirty-one for the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday 14 December.

Bahrain International Circuit The FIA World Endurance Championship returns to the Middle East for the first time in two years. The race in Bahrain was a feature of the championship from 2012 to 2017 and now makes a welcome return to the calendar with the first 8-hour race of the 2019/20 season. Situated in the desert, the Bahrain International Circuit provides a unique challenge for the drivers and teams in a race that will finish after the sun sets over the Gulf.

Following confirmation by the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Wednesday 4 December, Round 5 of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship will now take place at the Circuit of The Americas in Texas on the 23rd February 2020, replacing the race due to be held in Sao Paulo in Brazil on the 1st February.

The no1 Rebellion Racing R13-Gibson of Norman Nato, Gustavo Menezes and Bruno Senna took the chequered flag at the end of the 4 Hours of Shanghai to secure the first ever WEC victory on the road by a private LMP1 team. Bruno Senna crossed the line 66 seconds ahead of the no8 Toyota TS050-Hybrid of Kazuki Nakajima and lapped the no7 Toyota in the final ten minutes of the race.
