Bahrain International Circuit The FIA World Endurance Championship returns to the Middle East for the first time in two years. The race in Bahrain was a feature of the championship from 2012 to 2017 and now makes a welcome return to the calendar with the first 8-hour race of the 2019/20 season. Situated in the desert, the Bahrain International Circuit provides a unique challenge for the drivers and teams in a race that will finish after the sun sets over the Gulf.

Following confirmation by the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Wednesday 4 December, Round 5 of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship will now take place at the Circuit of The Americas in Texas on the 23rd February 2020, replacing the race due to be held in Sao Paulo in Brazil on the 1st February.

The no1 Rebellion Racing R13-Gibson of Norman Nato, Gustavo Menezes and Bruno Senna took the chequered flag at the end of the 4 Hours of Shanghai to secure the first ever WEC victory on the road by a private LMP1 team. Bruno Senna crossed the line 66 seconds ahead of the no8 Toyota TS050-Hybrid of Kazuki Nakajima and lapped the no7 Toyota in the final ten minutes of the race.

Rebellion Racing will start Round 3 of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship at the head of the 31-car field, the first time a non hybrid LMP1 car has started from pole in the WEC since Sebring in 2012 and breaking the dominance of the Toyota TS050 for the past two years.

Toyota Gazoo Racing set the pace in the final free practice session ahead of qualifying for the 4 Hours of Shanghai. Kamui Kobayashi set the fastest lap of the weekend so far in No.7 Toyota TS050 HYBRID with a 1m47.184s on his first flying lap of 60-minute session that was cut short by a red flag for debris on track, with just three minutes left on the clock.

Team LNT sets the outright pace on day 1 of the 4 Hours of Shanghai weekend, with Charlie Robertson in the no6 Ginetta-AER lapping the 5.4km Shanghai International Circuit in 1m48.127s, over six tenths quicker than the best time set in FP1. The no7 Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 was second fastest, just 0.081s behind the lead car. Rebellion Racing was third fastest ahead of the no8 Toyota and the no5 Ginetta.

Rebellion Racing has been part of the FIA World Endurance Championship since the first race in Florida in March 2012. The Swiss team have competed in LMP1 in every season except for 2017, when they competed in LMP2, winning the team and driver titles before moving back to LMP1 for the 2018/19 Super Season.
