Round 5 of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship will be held at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas on 22-23 February. This will be the sixth visit by the WEC to the Lone Star State and the eighth race in the United States of America. The WEC will return to the US in March for Round 6 at Sebring in Florida, the third time that the WEC has raced in the Sunshine State.

The Circuit of The Americas in Texas will host Round 5 of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship in the first of two visits to the United States of America, the second being Sebring next month. This will be the first visit to CoTA by the WEC since September 2017 and the Lone Star Le Mans weekend replaces the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, which was cancelled at the end of January. The return to Texas is for one year only as the race in February 2021 will be held at Kyalami in South Africa.

The fifth round of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship will be hosted by the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas on Sunday 23 February. The six hour race will be contested by 30 cars across the 4 classes, with 83 drivers and 21 teams representing 25 nations from all corners of the globe.

The FIA warmly welcomes today’s announcement by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) of the development of a technical platform that will enable manufacturers to develop cars eligible for competition in the top classes of both the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the US-based IMSA series.

The no7 Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez took their second victory of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship with a dominant win at the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain. The no7 Toyota finished over a lap ahead of their teammates Brendon Hartley, Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastien Buemi and three laps ahead of the third placed no1 Rebellion Racing R13-Gibson.

At the end of the 20-minute LMP qualifying session it was Rebellion Racing who will start at the head of the field for the second race in a row after claiming the overall pole position for tomorrows Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain. It was a Porsche 1-2 in LMGTE Pro with the no91 911 RSR-19 at the head of the GT grid.
