The opening round of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Series at Silverstone will see a bumper grid of 31 cars, with 14 Le Mans Prototypes (LMP) and 17 LMGTE entries competing in the eighth season of the world championship that concludes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2020.

After winning the inaugural FIA World Endurance GT Driver’s Championship title in 2017 with Italian teammate Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado spent the 2018/19 Super Season trying to win the coveted title again for himself and Ferrari.

2016 FIA WEC LMGTE Driver’s Champion Marco Sørensen is looking forward to the new challenge of the upcoming season which will see the World Endurance Championship travel to eight of the greatest endurance race circuits in the world, starting at Silverstone at the end of this month.

2015 and 2017 FIA World Endurance Driver’s Champion and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Brendon Hartley returns to the WEC with Toyota, taking the slot in the no8 TS050 hybrid vacated by Fernando Alonso alongside reigning champions Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastien Buemi.

After two intense days of track activity The Prologue, the FIA World Endurance Championships official pre-season test, has been completed. Toyota Gazoo Racing topped the timesheets at the end of the 16 hours of track time in Barcelona.

The entry list for The Prologue, the official pre season test for the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship, has been revealed with 30 cars taking part in two days of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 July.

At the end of 24 hours of racing Kazuki Nakajima, Fernando Alonso and Sebastien Buemi took the unique accolade of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in one season and becoming the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Drivers’ Champions.
