The Pearl of the East to Host FIA General Assembly
The FIA – the global governing body for motorsport and confederation of national mobility clubs – has opened its annual Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The extraordinary General Assembly of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) will take place in Samarkand from June 10 to 13.
This event, the first of its kind in Central Asia, will also celebrate the 120th anniversary of the FIA. Over 500 high-profile guests from 147 countries, including national federation leaders and famous racers, will attend. Specifically, FIA President Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem has arrived in Samarkand. He was welcomed by the regional governor Mr. Erkin Turdimov, Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Otabek Umarov, and the leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and the National Autosport and Karting Federation of Uzbekistan.
The highlight of the event will be a unique car exhibition featuring supercars from around the world, which was initiated by the Head of FIA with the support of organisation’s fund and private automobile collectors. The program includes various seminars, exhibitions, and competitions aimed at sharing industry achievements. The General Assembly's main session is scheduled for the final day, organized by National Autosport and Karting Federation of Uzbekistan
This Assembly is expected to be a crucial platform for advancing motorsport in Uzbekistan and elevating its future prospects.
The FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said: “I would like to thank President Anvar Ergashev and the National Autosport Karting Federation of Uzbekistan and the City of Samarkand for hosting for what promises to be an exciting week ahead.
“This year marks a major milestone in the FIA’s history as we celebrate 120 years of the Federation with a commemorative display along with a special car exhibition at the Expo Centre.”
The FIA Conference will run from the 11th-14th June.
