ACB Strengthens Safe Driving in Extreme Areas of Bolivia with 4x4 Training
With the support of the FIA, the Automóvil Club Boliviano (ACB) reaffirms its commitment to road safety through an innovative defensive off-road driving training programme, aimed at drivers from the electric company COBEE S.A. The activity took place in Songo, La Paz — a region where dealing with challenging terrain is part of everyday life.

The technical and practical training was designed to prepare participants to safely operate 4x4 vehicles in high-risk environments, typical of Bolivia’s rugged landscape. The programme included driving on mud, rocks, sand, and water, as well as the proper use of tools such as traction control, differential locks, and emergency response techniques.
In addition to the hands-on exercises, the course incorporated theoretical modules and sensometric assessments, resulting in a comprehensive learning experience. Upon completion, participants received a certificate validating their preparedness to handle extreme conditions responsibly and efficiently.
“This type of training is essential for preserving lives in complex operational environments. It allows us not only to respond more effectively but also to anticipate risks,” said one of the participants.
The initiative aligns with the internationally promoted “Safe System” approach, which aims to strengthen human capabilities as a key factor in reducing road crashes.
This joint effort between ACB and COBEE S.A. highlights the strategic value of specialised road safety education. Training those who drive in critical areas not only improves workplace safety but also positively impacts the broader community.
With initiatives like this, ACB is leading the way with concrete actions toward safer and more professional mobility in Bolivia.
