National rally returns to the UAE
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) in partnership with the Emirates Motorsports Organization (EMSO), has announced its vision for the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge.
With the support of the Emirates Motorsport Organisation (EMSO), the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the driving force behind some of Abu Dhabi’s biggest sporting events, has announced the all-new Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge, to develop the capabilities and skills of athletes in various kinds of sports.
The fledgling four-wheel and two-wheel racing series will take place across four rounds, from October to early 2024. Rookies, amateurs, and keen athletes from home and away will be able to challenge themselves in the championship, with reduced fees for registration.
The Abu Dhabi Baja also aims to be a ‘feeder series’ for talent development, with prize money on offer and an opportunity to hone skills on the road to events such as the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge (ADDC) and the Dubai International Baja (DIB).
The Abu-Dhabi based championship joins a prestigious line-up of some of the longest-standing rallying events in the world. The ever-popular ADDC, taking place in February and March next year, and the equally prominent Dubai International Baja, running from 10-12 November 2023, attract some of the biggest names in the sport as long-standing events founded by former EMSO President and 14-time FIA Middle East Rally Champion Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the current FIA President.
Following last year’s edition of the Dubai International Baja, the venue remains the close to the public with additional approvements to be announced soon, as rallying in the UAE continues to flourish.
