The FIA has announced a new Safe Mobility 4All & 4Life pilot programme, to be carried out in collaboration with programme partner UNITAR.

The pilot programme will be the first one offered through the Safe Mobility 4All & 4Life partnership.

The partnership was launched in July, and aims to empower Member Clubs to drive improved road safety outcomes through collaboration, knowledge sharing and advocacy. Safe Mobility 4All & 4Life will ultimately help developing countries to improve their professional capacity, leadership and engagement around mobility and road safety issues.

The pilot programme will include in-person workshop sessions  focused on road safety fundamentals, as well as access to a new e-learning platform, offering tailor-made learning materials and mentoring on the development of long-lasting road safety interventions.

In its initial stages, the pilot will welcome thirty participants across FIA Regions III and IV (South and Central America, and the Caribbean). It will be rolled out to other regions during 2025.

The announcement was made came at the American Congress in Lima, Peru.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President, said: "I am very happy to see that Region 3 and 4 will be leading the Smart Mobility for All and the All Lifelong initiatives. These efforts are essential to developing local talent within our clubs."

Jacob Bangsgaard, Secretary General for Automobile Mobility and Tourism, led the announcement. He said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the new pilot. I am confident that this new initiative will help FIA Member Clubs to drive measurable road safety change within the region, and create a better future for our partners and communities across South and Central America and the Caribbean.”

Alex Mejia, Director of the Division for People and Social Inclusion at UNITAR, added: "We are honoured to have FIA as a new strategic partner. FIA is the global leader in mobility and its commitment to improve road safety around the world is to be commended. This new programme is fully aligned with the Decade of Action for Road Safety and will certainly support the holistic achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals."

The programme is part of the FIA’s wider efforts to promote knowledge sharing and learning through the FIA University.
