Expanding Road Safety Efforts: FIA, Together for Safer Roads and FIA Foundation join forces to promote the FIA Road Safety Index at Miami E-Prix
During the Miami E-Prix, the FIA, Together for Safer Roads and the FIA Foundation co-hosted a workshop to advance the expansion of the FIA Road Safety Index, a critical tool to support companies in their road safety efforts.

As transportation-related incidents account for approximately 37% of workplace fatalities in the US, the FIA Road Safety Index can play a vital role in helping organisations identify and understand safety gaps and design and plan long-term interventions to better protect their staff and all road users.
The Miami round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship provided the perfect setting to showcase the importance of corporate and public accountability in road safety as Formula E continues to serve as a dynamic platform for the FIA to convey key messages about innovation and transformation in mobility.
The workshop was attended by Together for Safer Roads members, including UPS, AB InBev, as well as Big Bus Tours, CEPA Mobility, World Energy Council Colombia, Fedetranscarga, and the City of Barranquilla in Colombia. FIA Member Clubs the Automóvil Club de Costa Rica, the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club and the Automóvil Club de Colombia were also present, demonstrating how the FIA Member community serves as a key engagement network for implementing FIA programmes around the world.
FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility Willem Groenewald said, “The FIA Road Safety Index empowers both private and public sector organisations to assess and better understand the impact of their operations on road safety. It supports proactive actions to manage and improve safety outcomes. The Index marks an essential step in reaching our global road safety goals. Together with our Member Clubs, we are committed to supporting all organisations ready to take this journey toward lasting and meaningful change.”
Executive Director, Together For Safer Roads Peter Goldwasser said, “We’re proud to collaborate with the FIA and the FIA Foundation to support the expansion of the FIA Road Safety Index through direct engagement and learning with leading private sector actors. Events like the Miami E-Prix offer a powerful platform to spotlight innovation and accountability in transportation and it was especially meaningful to have TSR members like UPS and AB InBev at the workshop; demonstrating how global companies can utilise tools like the FIA Road Safety Index to drive measurable improvements in fleet and road safety. Our members understand that safer roads are not only a moral imperative but a business priority, and this kind of collaboration turns commitment into real-world impact.”
