Nations from around the world are benefiting from the large variety of disciplines being contested at the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia this week.

Medals are up for grabs in 26 competitions during the third running of the FIA Motorsport Games with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India represented in nine events, including Auto Slalom, Esports, Karting and Rally.

Prateek Dalal, the Indian Gymkhana and Autocross champion, forms part of India’s Auto Slalom line-up along with Khyati Mody. He said: “I have been doing rallies, racing and now I’m into drifting so life has been fun. But I can’t express the feeling for being here. We call it the Olympics of motor sport so it’s a big deal. Grassroots motor sport is growing in India and I hope for the gold medal here to encourage more people to take part in motor sport.”

Chinese Taipei is competing in its third FIA Motorsport Games with an expanded delegation of 14 athletes competing in nine disciplines, which Chinese Taipei Motor Sports president Kwong Wing Yeung said can only help to expand motor sport participation in his homeland.

“The FIA Motorsport Games are very important for us because we’re a small ASN but we are taking part in nine disciplines with 14 athletes, so we are supporting the FIA policy of making motor sport more inclusive with more diversity and we do our best,” he said.

“We have athletes from the top in GT Sprint right down to Karting because we want motor sport to become a safe, affordable and enjoyable form of sport. Being here in Spain we are on a worldwide platform with all the other countries and this this will encourage the young kids in our country to become the new heroes of motor sport.”

Automobile Association of Bangladesh has entered athletes in four events, as Avik Anwar, who is flying the Bangladeshi flag in Touring Car, explained: “Arhaam Rahaman was the only one representing us in the FIA Motorsport Games two years ago, but our ASN has arranged for more of us to be here so we’re grateful for this. Now we are five people, we are doing Esports GT, Esports F4, I’m doing Touring Car and two are doing Auto Slalom. But in two years we want to be 10 people and we’re going to cover more categories.”

From one discipline in 2019 to three in 2022, the Automobile Club of Albania is contesting five in 2024, including Karting Slalom for a third Games in a row.
