A dinner was held at Daniel Pienaar Technical High School in Kariega to celebrate two significant achievements: the presentation of the FIA President’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award to the school, and the recognition of nine South African motorsport legends. The high school, the only one in South Africa offering motorsport as a school sport, was honoured for its commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the sport.

Motorsport legends in attendance included Tschops Sipuka, Terry Moss, Hannes Grobler, Hergen Fekken, Pierre Arries, Chris Aberdein, Serge Damseaux, Geoff Mortimer, Jan Habig, Enzo Kuun, Guy Hodgson, and Colin Hastie. Their presence highlighted the connection between the school’s educational programme and South Africa’s rich motorsport history.

The FIA President’s Award was presented to Motorsport South Africa (MSA) at the FIA Annual General Assembly in Baku, Azerbaijan. MSA was recognised for its outstanding work at Daniel Pienaar Technical High School, fostering diversity in motorsport by providing opportunities for students from various backgrounds, including girls and underrepresented groups, to participate in motorsport-related careers, from driving to technical and administrative roles.

The dinner was organised to celebrate both the school’s achievements and the legends who have shaped the sport in South Africa. The organisers, including Rudolf and Sylvia de Vos, Mike Barnard, Pierre Van Rensburg, and Kola du Toit, Principal of Daniel Pienaar Technical High School, were recognised for their efforts in making the event a success.

Daniel Pienaar Technical High School continues to provide students with practical motorsport experience, preparing the next generation of talent in the sport. MSA Chairman Anton Roux said: "I am proud of the work we are doing at Daniel Pienaar Technical High School to cultivate young talent in motorsport. This programme is not only about racing; it’s about fostering an inclusive work environment and giving students the tools and opportunities to succeed in all areas of the sport, regardless of their backgrounds.”
