WEC - 2017 6 Hours of Shanghai - Post Qualifying Press Conference

WEC, 6 Hours of Shanghai, Motorsport

Mike Conway – LMP1 Pole Position

No7 Toyota Gazoo Racing  - Toyota TS050 Hybrid

“We’ve been top in every session so far this weekend, so we’ve had a good car and we’ve just been trying to get it the best we can.  It’s a tricky place here to get it all perfect but the lap was OK.  I feel I left a couple of tenths on the table but I was expecting to out there quicker and I did.  So I knew we had a shot at pole.  Hopefully we’ll be able to stay at the front all day tomorrow.”

Kamui Kobayashi – LMP1 Pole Position

No7 Toyota Gazoo Racing  - Toyota TS050 Hybrid

“I’m really pleased even if the lap itself wasn’t perfect. I didn’t try new tyres before qualifying so it was tricky to adjust. But overall the car was really good and I was 100% confident in it. We have been strong all week; the team has done a great job so far.”

Marco Sørensen – LMGTE Pro Pole Position

No95 Aston Martin Racing – Aston Martin Vantage

“We’re really happy to get this pole. I think our car works really well, as do the Dunlop tyres, over one lap.  After FP3 we kinda expected this result but it came a little bit closer in qualifying, but we have pole so we are really happy.”

Nicky Thiim – LMGTE Pro Pole Position

No95 Aston Martin Racing – Aston Martin Vantage

“It’s quite hard when you come out on new tyres and low fuel to deliver the one lap.  You can always find a little bit here and there.  It’s a great feeling and I am happy for the team for what we have achieved today but it’s a six hour race tomorrow, a long way.”

Bruno Senna – LMP2 Pole Position

No31 Vaillante Rebellion Oreca 07-Gibson

“Qualifying was fantastic, the car was really hooked.  There was a lot more grip on the track than we were expecting and I was able to take the most out of the lap time.  This is very important for us to get P1 with the no38 car in P4, which is a nice little gap.  Of course tomorrow is a whole different game but it is important to start as far up as possible and to put as many cars as we can between us and the no38.  The team did a great job.  The car started the weekend a little bit shakey, but the car is really well sorted, so an amazing job from everybody.”

Julien Canal – LMP2 Pole Position

No31 Vaillante Rebellion Oreca 07-Gibson

“For us this is a great chance to catch the no38 in the championship.  I really happy about my lap and to beat Bruno one time in sector three.  He did a really good job.  He has helped the team a lot to set up the car and I am always really happy to work with him.  If everything goes to plan tomorrow we could be fighting for the championship in the last race in Bahrain.”

Pedro Lamy – LMGTE Am Pole Position

No98 Aston Martin Racing – Aston Martin Vantage

“I am very happy.  The car was great and we were able to put in a very good lap.  I did OK but Paul did a great job and this pole position is down to his lap.”

Paul Dalla Lana – LMGTE Am Pole Position

No98 Aston Martin Racing – Aston Martin Vantage

“The championship is really close and every point will count.  We have a big fight over the next couple of races and we will have to see how it goes tomorrow.  But for today I am very happy we are on pole again and it is good to be back fight again.  We have a good car for tomorrow, so thank to the team.”
