September 2015: FIA University - Effective Boards

Organised in September, in parallel to the FIA Mobility Conference 2015 in London, this session of the FIA University focused on how corporate governance builds value for automobile clubs.

With 30 delegates in attendance, for the most part Club Presidents and CEOs, the day-long session provided Club Presidents, Board members and CEOs with the opportunity to improve the functionality and effectiveness of their boards.

Indeed, Clubs need to be transparent, accountable and efficient in their activities, and this requires effective boards that help position their Clubs for long-term success.

The programme, presented by Dr. Ruth Aguilera (ESADE Business School), was divided in two sections, focusing first on the roles of an effective board and how to trigger strategic change, while the afternoon was dedicated to the management of relationships with stakeholders.

It is the first building block of the Senior Executive Program the FIA University is preparing for 2016.

September 2015: Applied Learning Classes

During the FIA Mobility Conference 2015 in London, the FIA University offered 3 classes on the Thursday afternoon.

These 3 sessions, presented by ESADE Business School and Duke CE academic collaborators and open to all FIA Mobility Conference attendees, focused on three themes: Leading with impact, Breaking free from boom or bust, On managing yourself.

Leading with impact presented delegates with effective ways to keep an eye on what was important to them, whether in their business or in their personal life to not only become a better business leader, but also to improve and enhance their lives as professionals.

Breaking free from boom or bust focused on the delegates as individuals, helping them manage the process of change and how they were likely to experience and respond to the stress change induces. Ultimately, the aim was to learn how to build resilience and become more effective during periods of change.

On managing yourself provided delegates with the cognitive tools to learn how to manage themselves better. By harnessing their internal thought patterns, feelings and beliefs, attendees were presented with ways to improve their ability to think and take better decisions, more efficiently.

October 2015: FIA University Region II Club Development Program

FIA University, NUS Business School and KEIO University offered a tailor-made program focusing on Strategic Planning and Results Orientation to support the growth and transformation of FIA Region II Clubs.

Organised in Singapore from 29 to 31 October, the Region II Club Development Program was attended by 30 senior managers and Presidents. Over three days, attendees were given valuable insight from professors specializing in marketing, strategy and entrepreneurship, and innovation.

Amongst the subjects treated over the course of the programme were how to capture value in the service economy, managing customer loyalty and improving service quality, cost-effectiveness, and innovation and how it can be integrated into a business model.

With round-tables, team work and presentations by Clubs, FIA Members were at the very heart of a course which was designed specifically with their needs in mind.
