The meetings took place ahead of the American Congress

Secretary General for Mobility Jacob Bangsaard visited Mobility Clubs in FIA Region IV, ahead of the American Congress in Lima, Peru.

Over the course of 4 days, he visited Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA), Automóvil Club de Colombia (ACC), and Automóvil Club del Ecuador (ANETA).

The visits represented a key opportunity for the FIA to learn more about the Clubs’ ongoing projects and goals for 2024 and beyond.

During his visit to the Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA) in Buenos Aires, Jacob met with ACA President Cesar Carman and his team for discussions on the Club’s mobility plans. FIA Region IV Coordinator Josefina de los Heros also hosted a meeting at the FIA Region IV office in Buenos Aires.

At his next stop, the Automóvil Club de Colombia (ACC) in Bogota, Colombia, Jacob met with ACC and FIA Region IV President Ricardo Morales for discussions about Club activities in particular in the area of road safety. The FIA and ACC also met with the Colombian Vice Minister of Transport Carlos Eduardo Enríquez Caicedo to learn more about the national strategies for mobility and road safety, and visited a local school in Bogota, which had benefitted from the FIA’s Star Rating for Schools programme. The school had received support for infrastructure upgrades, allowing it to rise from a 0 to a 4 star rating.

In Quito, the Secretary General met with CEO Gorki Obando and other representatives from the Automóvil Club del Ecuador (ANETA). He visited their impressive driver training centre in Cumbayá. Sustainability and safety training have been key focus areas for the development of the centre, which has now been selected as one of the three FIA Innovation Challenge finalists for the region. The project was presented during the FIA American Congress in Peru last week, alongside other FIA Region III and IV finalists.
