With the number of electric buses in Santiago rising, the Automóvil Club de Chile launched a new programme to train local drivers on how to use and maintain electric vehicles. The course sought to deepen drivers’ understanding of electromobility, by explaining how and why the technology has been developed, highlighting new technological developments and sharing practical guidance, including the basics of electric battery maintenance, charging infrastructure and efficient fleet scheduling. Participants also received a booklet and a diploma after the training.

Targeted at drivers from a wide variety of different companies, the course also aimed to foster collaborative learning and best practice exchange.

As part of its wider sustainability commitments, ACCHI also sought to limit the environmental impact of the programme, by reducing the amount of materials distributed and hosting training sessions in energy-efficient venues.

The programme ultimately succeeded in delivering training to over 112 drivers. The Club hopes that the skills acquired and the connections established through the programme will contribute to improved practices and a more sustainable future for transport in the city.
