The election of the 2014 Transporter of the Year took place on Monday 31 March at Paris' Roland Garros Stadium, organised by French leading transport magazine L’Officiel des Transporteurs. This annual ceremony celebrates the road freight transport sector and was attended this year by over 400 guests as 1,500 followed it via the live video stream.

The jury presented special guest Jean Todt, President of the FIA, with an honorary award. The head of the international federation addressed on stage the synergies between the FIA and the truck world on the latest innovations in road safety and energy efficiency. He said that the technologies that are currently being developed at the highest level of motor sport competition could soon be transferrable to the trucks of the future.

Jean Todt said: "I'm grateful to the jury for awarding me this prize. Innovations in motor sport are increasingly being applied to road trucks which are today achieving a high level of performance with regards to both safety and fuel consumption."
