FIA President Jean Todt has dedicated his first Tribute Award to beloved friends and colleagues lost from the FIA family during 2019 and to the 1.35 million people who lost their live on the road this year.

The winners of this season’s FIA-sanctioned competitions have been crowned at a glorious 2019 FIA Prize Giving ceremony at the Carrousel du Louvre in the City of Light.

The FIA held its General Assembly in Paris, France, today, bringing to a close its annual series of meetings of Sport and Mobility FIA Member Clubs from around the world. The week’s activities will culminate in this evening’s FIA Prize Giving Gala at the world famous musée du Louvre at which the winners of the Federation’s sporting championships will be honoured.

After a year away the FIA World Endurance Championship makes a welcome return to the Bahrain International Circuit for the first 8 Hour race of the 2019/20 season. An additional entry in the LMP2 category by former class champions G-Drive Racing brings the total number of cars entered for the race up to thirty-one for the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday 14 December.

The FIA’s flagship annual FIA Prize Giving ceremony welcomes a third partner, in addition to the long-standing support it receives from Official Partners Rolex and Michelin. BMW, the German car manufacturer becomes the Official Transportation Partner for the 2019 event.

Bahrain International Circuit The FIA World Endurance Championship returns to the Middle East for the first time in two years. The race in Bahrain was a feature of the championship from 2012 to 2017 and now makes a welcome return to the calendar with the first 8-hour race of the 2019/20 season. Situated in the desert, the Bahrain International Circuit provides a unique challenge for the drivers and teams in a race that will finish after the sun sets over the Gulf.

Following confirmation by the FIA World Motor Sport Council on Wednesday 4 December, Round 5 of the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship will now take place at the Circuit of The Americas in Texas on the 23rd February 2020, replacing the race due to be held in Sao Paulo in Brazil on the 1st February.

Hosted by FIA President Jean Todt and FIA Deputy President for Sport, Graham Stoker, the World Motor Sport Council gathered today in Paris during the 2019 Annual General Assembly for its fourth and final meeting of the year.

Yesterday, in Paris, Anders Lindström from Sweden won the inaugural FIA Smart Driving Challenge, a worldwide challenge that rewards smart, safe and eco-friendly skills at the wheel.
