Building a movement: 2025 FIA Innovation Challenge launches with stronger regional empowerment
The FIA, in collaboration with its four Mobility Regions, is pleased to launch the latest edition of the FIA Innovation Challenge. This initiative celebrates Member Club projects that drive growth and development across the Mobility network - whether that is by boosting membership acquisition and retention, enhancing value propositions, or diversifying business offerings.
All Club initiatives are of interest, whether big or small, as long as they generate meaningful impact for the Club.
In its second edition, the Challenge will place a stronger focus on regional involvement and empowerment. For the first time, Regional Selection Committees will choose the twelve Regional Champions (three per region). These Champions will be announced and awarded during their respective regional congresses (FIA Region I Spring Meeting, FIA American Congress, and FIA Asia Pacific Congress). A global judging panel will then select the four Global Winners – who will be celebrated at the FIA General Assemblies week in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
These events will feature dedicated presentation and promotion sessions, offering Regional Champions and Global Winners a prestigious platform to showcase their innovative ideas, share best practices, and inspire other FIA Member Clubs to amplify their impact.
FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility Willem Groenewald said: “With 44 entries, 12 finalists, and four winners, the 2024 FIA Innovation Challenge was an extraordinary celebration of the skill, dedication, and imagination of our Mobility Member network. Heading into our second year, I look forward to seeing the ways that our Members are continuing the movement – building a brighter, safer, and more connected mobility future around the world.”
Last year, the inaugural Challenge received 44 entries from Member Clubs around the world. From this strong pool, the following Clubs were named as the 2024 Winners:
Region I (Europe, Middle-East, and Africa): Automobile Association of Kenya
Region II (Asia and Pacific): Australian Automobile Association
Region III (North America and the Caribbean): Alberta Motor Association (Canada)
Region IV (South and Central America): Touring y Automóvil Club de Colombia
Their projects – spanning everything from trucking safety to real world testing, toolkits for immigrants, and smart cities projects – were celebrated during the FIA General Assemblies week in Kigali, Rwanda, last December.
