Following a competitive tender process and an e-vote of the Off-Road Commission, ASR Tyres and Schuurman BV have been selected by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the exclusive suppliers of tyres to be used in the FIA European Autocross Championship and the FIA European Cross Car Championship in 2024/2025 respectively.

The collaboration between the FIA and the suppliers follows analysis that looked in particular at their capabilities, technical quality and sustainability, with ASR’s provision of Kumho tyres for Autocross Super Buggy, Buggy 1600 and Junior Buggy, and Schuurman’s provision of Goldspeed tyres for Cross Car and Cross Car Junior championships.

ASR Tyres has been distributing competition tyres at regional, national and international level for over 25 years, whilst Schuurman’s expertise in global distribution will ensure the needs of the championships are met.

FIA Road Sport Director, Andrew Wheatley, said: “The supply of tyres is critical to the FIA’s running of these championships and will help to continue strengthening them. The FIA European Autocross and Cross Car Championships are key proving grounds for off-road talent and often where future champions get their start, so its crucial they have the highest quality equipment available to them.”

About the FIA European Autocross Championship and the FIA European Cross Car Championship

Established as an FIA European Cup in 1977, the competition was upgraded to an FIA European Championship in 1982.  Run on circuits of natural terrain, with any type of unsealed surface permitted on a track which is from 800 to 1400 meters in length, Autocross races involve a maximum of 10 cars on track simultaneously and consist of a succession of qualifying heats leading to two semi-finals and a final. ‘Buggies’ are divided according to their level of performance and/or the age of their drivers

Since 2021, a selection of the ten FIA European Autocross Championship events also host rounds of the FIA European Cross Car Championship (7 competitions in 2022) and the FIA Cross Car Academy Trophy (5 competitions in 2022, reserved for drivers aged 13 to 16).
