WEC: Shwartzman fastest in post-season rookie test as Rossi makes series testing debut
Ferrari AF Corse’s Robert Shwartzman topped the one-day post-season FIA World Endurance Championship official Rookie Test, setting the fastest time in the second of the two sessions held on the day
The test was Shwartzman’s debut behind the wheel of the Ferrari 499P that he shared with the car’s regular driver Alessandro Pier Guidi and Ferrari’s first female works driver Lilou Wadoux who competed in the GTE Am category this season, driving for Richard Mille AF Corse.
Formula 2 regular Clement Novalak slotted into the 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning Inter Europol Competition Oreca and went fastest among LMP2 cars. Second-quickest, just 0.019s off the class’ best time, was Team WRT’s GT3 regular Charles Weerts who was making his debut prototype outing.
MotoGP legend turned sportscar racer Valentino Rossi had his first taste of an LMP2 machinery, ending up eight tenths slower than teammate Weerts.
Among GT cars Lorenzo Patrese set the quickest time driving the #83 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
