The FIA Formula 3 European Championship at Vallelunga
The FIA World Motor Sports Council has validated the modification to the 2013 calendar of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with the replacement of the French round on the Paul Ricard circuit by Vallelunga in Italy on 12-13 October.
As the FFSA and the FIA were unable to reach agreement on the conditions of organisation of the event at Paul Ricard on 26-27 October, the Vallelunga circuit in Italy will host the second-last round of the 2013 FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
The FIA World Motor Sports Council met at Goodwood on Friday 28th June and validated this choice. Thus, for the second time this season the FIA Formula 3 European Championship will take place in Italy in the context of the Superstars World meeting.
“When we told the teams entered in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship about the cancellation of the Paul Ricard round, we also told them that we wanted a season consisting of ten events,” explains Gerhard Berger, President of the FIA Single-Seaters Commission. “So we had a look at what series corresponded to our organisation criteria, could supply us with the right amount of track time and high-quality TV coverage. We’re very satisfied to have reached agreement with the promoters of the Superstars World. It will be the final round of the championship and it’s always a big event in Italy.”
The last round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship will take place on the Hockenheim circuit the following weekend in the context of the DTM meeting on 19-20 October. This will give the teams additional time to prepare for the 2013 Macau Grand Prix.
