ETRC - Hahn takes 35-point lead to Le Mans finale; Janiec wins "drama in Jarama" race four
ETRC - 2016 Race of Jarama - Races 3&4
It was another dramatic day in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship as Jochen Hahn kept his 35-point title lead and Anthony Janiec took a surprise but richly merited first victory of the 2016 season.
After Jochen Hahn had converted pole position in to a comfortable Race Three win at lunchtime on Sunday, Frenchman Janiec took his Lion Truck Racing MAN to a brilliant victory later in the afternoon.
Resisting huge pressure from a train of three trucks comprising Rene Reinert, Adam Lacko and Jochen Hahn, Janiec took the chequered flag just 0.334s ahead of jostling rivals to thrill a large Spanish crowd.
The results over the weekend mean that the drivers title will go down to the wire at Le Mans next weekend.
RACE THREE
Jochen Hahn added a second FIA European Truck Racing Championship victory to his Jarama weekend this afternoon when he took his Hahn Racing MAN truck to a comfortable victory.
The German led away from pole position and controlled the 12-lap race, opening up a one second buffer by the third lap and thus stretching out his point’s gap to 36 with 70 to play for before the Le Mans finale.
Despite Lacko’s best efforts the Buggyra International Racing System driver was unable to put significant pressure on Hahn and was forced to settle for second position just as he had done in race two yesterday. Hahn eventually took the chequered flag 1.623s ahead of Lacko after backing off significantly in the final few laps.

RACE FOUR
Anthony Janiec, driving the Lion Truck Racing MAN entry, scored his first win of the season in the final race of the weekend at Jarama on Sunday afternoon.
The Frenchman drove a supreme race to hold off significant pressure from Rene Reinert, Adam Lacko and Jochen Hahn in a thrilling climax to the race. It was Janiec’s third ever victory in the FIA ETRC after previous wins at Nogaro in 2012 and 2015. The win also gives him huge momentum and boost as he heads to his home race of Le Mans next weekend.
Team Reinert Adventure crowned Team champions in Spain
In the Teams race it was the Lion/Lenz combination which took the maximum points thanks to Janiec’s win. They tied on combined points scoring with the Team Reinert Adventure squad but Lion/Lenz took the points thanks to winning overall. The result today ensured that Team Reinert Adventure won the 2016 FIA ETRC as they have an insurmountable points lead heading to the final round.
The Buggyra 1969 duo of Adam Lacko and Jiri Forman took a combined third to confirm their second position in the Teams standings this season
