Qatar Set to Host High-Level Medical Seminar

Spectator safety, extrication methods and trauma management on agenda for event at Losail International Circuit

Leading medical personnel from around the world will come together for the latest FIA Institute medical seminar for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, which will take place at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar on 7-8 October 2015. 
 
Professor Gérard Saillant, President of the FIA Medical Commission and FIA Institute, will join Nasser Al-Atya, President of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and FIA Vice President for MENA, in opening the event. The seminar is then split over two days, during which the focus will be on subjects related to rallying and off-road events, such as spectator safety and accident management.
 
Both days of the conference will include interactive afternoon workshops related to technical difficulties and multiple casualty incidents, as well as trauma management and the various safety aspects of rally cars.
 
Speakers at the event include Dr Michael Scholz, Medical Chairman of the Deutscher Motor Sport Bund, who will talk about motor sport organisation; Dr Amjad Obeid, Bahrain Motor Federation Chief Medical Officer (CMO), who will present on the selection of medical staff; and Jean Duby, CMO of the FIA World Rally Championship, who is discussing spectator safety.
