Reigning FIA World Rally Champion Sébastien Ogier has pulled ahead of his Rallye Deutschland rivals to top the leaderboard by 33.4 seconds during a day characterised by changing weather and tricky tyre choices. He heads team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen, and Hyundai’s Dani Sordo inched into the final podium position in the closing stage after a titanic battle with Thierry Neuville.

The battling trio are split by just 5.9 seconds after nearly 100 kilometres of competition over the narrow and bumpy lanes of the Mosel vineyards.
