Each year, the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards give public recognition to the most outstanding international road safety initiatives. The awards recognise achievement and innovation that improve road safety. The 2018 edition saw the FIA High Level Panel for Road Safety being honoured in the Road Safety Management category for its action to promote key safety messages and actions globally.

This global campaign was launched in 2017 to reduce road crashes, which cause 3,500 deaths every day around the world.

For World Sight Day (WSD) 2017, the FIA welcomed Michael Fassbender as its new #3500LIVES Global Road Safety Campaign Ambassador. Advocating for improved vision, Fassbender represents the “Check your Vision” Golden Rule for Road Safety. This year, the Federation renews its support for this international day of awareness — held annually on the second Thursday of October — to focus attention on the global issue of avoidable blindness and vision impairment.
