As part of those plans, current Supercars may be retrofitted with a common battery and powertrain kit developing between 400 and 500 kW (540 and 680 bhp), the supply of which will run over a period of four years.

Initially, internal combustion engine cars will be allowed to compete against electric vehicles for at least one year of the planned four-year cycle, with Balance of Performance equalising both types of power unit. Manufacturers’ involvement will continue to be possible through the support of teams.

In parallel, the FIA and IMG plan to launch an entry-level monotype electric category called eRX Junior, for four-wheel-drive cars developing around 250 kW/340 bhp. This category will feature a maximum of six European events with 2021 as its inaugural season.

It is in this context that tenders invite the supply of:

1.      World Rallycross battery and Powertrain kit for Supercars

2.       eRX Junior complete car supply and championship organisation on an all-inclusive arrive and drive format

3.       Charging power and infrastructure supply

Bidders have until 31st August to submit their proposals and may bid for more than one tender. Potential providers will be shortlisted and the final selection made at the next meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in October.
