WRC - Historic all-female stewarding panel oversees Safari Rally Kenya
2025 Safari Rally Kenya - FIA Officials - Women in Motorsport

The Safari Rally Kenya is making history this year with an all-female panel of stewards officiating at round three of the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship. Additionally, in line with the FIA’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity, 31% of senior positions in the event organising team are held by women, a significant increase from 6% in 2024.
This achievement echoes the precedent set at the 2016 RallyRACC Rally de España, where an all-female stewarding panel was in duty at a WRC event for the first time - and the second time in the FIA World Championships. Now, nearly a decade later, the Safari Rally Kenya continues to champion gender diversity with a team of experienced female officials.
Meet the Stewards
Tanja Geilhausen from Germany chairs the panel of stewards. A skilled motorsport official, Geilhausen began her motorsport career as a rally co-driver from 1996 to 2019, primarily competing in the German Rally Championship. Transitioning to officiating roles, Tanja became a project manager at ADAC, one of Germany’s leading automobile associations, and served as Event Secretary for both the WRC Rallye Deutschland and the WRC Central European Rally. She also acted as an Assistant to the Clerk of the Course during the 24h Nürburgring Race and has been an FIA Steward since 2022 in various championships, most recently serving as the chair of the Panel of the Stewards at the 2025 Rallye Monte-Carlo and International Steward at the 2025 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Alice Scutellà from Italy serves as the FIA Steward. With strong experience in rally officiating, she has previously worked as the ASN steward at multiple WRC Rally Italia Sardegna events, bringing her deep knowledge of the sport to the Safari Rally. She began her career as a marshal before becoming a steward in 2020 and has since built an impressive officiating portfolio. Alice has served as an FIA Steward at the WRC Central European Rally in 2024 and in the ERC in both 2024 and this year. She has also worked as an ASN steward in FIA Formula 3 and Formula E, further expanding her expertise across different disciplines. Currently, she is the permanent steward for the Lamborghini Championship in circuit racing and has also officiated in the Italian Rally Championship, solidifying her reputation as an experienced and versatile motorsport official.
Tuta Mionki from Kenya takes on the role of ASN Steward. A trailblazer in Kenyan motorsport, she was the country’s first female rally co-driver in the Kenya Motorsport Premier Class and has competed in national and international events since 2012. She gained prominence navigating for Eric Bengi in the Kenya National Rally Championship and later co-drove for several other rally drivers. Tuta has earned multiple accolades, including the Kenya Motor Sports Federation Awards for Best Co-Driver of the Season in 2015 (Division 3), 2016 (2WD) and 2018 (Group N and Division 1), and was named Kenya Motor Sports Personality of the Year in 2018. She is also an FIA High Performance Programme graduate, further cementing her expertise in stewarding and motorsport governance.
Yvonne Gilli from Italy continues her long-standing role as Secretary to the Stewards, marking an incredible milestone - her 368th WRC event attendance. With decades of experience, she remains a key figure in ensuring the smooth operation of world rally events worldwide.
Supporting the stewards at this week’s Safari Rally Kenya are Maureen Wahu (left) and Ida Tallam (right), both from Kenya, serving as Assistant Secretaries to the Stewards. Their contributions further highlight the growing involvement of Kenyan women in motorsport officiating, ensuring the efficient coordination and management of one of the most challenging rallies on the WRC calendar. Following in Tuta’s footsteps from 2023, Ida is one of 12 new students welcomed to the second cycle of the FIA High Performance Programme, a tailored training initiative designed to develop the next generation of top-level motorsport officials.
The Safari Rally Kenya's all-female stewarding panel serves as a powerful testament to the progress being made toward greater gender diversity in motorsport, aligning with the FIA's ongoing commitment to inclusivity.
