World RX - Solberg takes Q1 in Germany
2018 World RX of Germany - Q1
PSRX Volkswagen Sweden’s Petter Solberg took first blood at the World RX of Germany, round 11 of the FIA World Rallycross Championship by setting the quickest time in Q1 at Estering.
Solberg’s PSRX team mate Johan Kristoffersson started his first weekend as a two-time World RX Drivers’ Champion and won Q1 race one, but Solberg won race two and was 0.8 seconds faster than Kristoffersson. Olsbergs MSE’s Kevin Eriksson tried an around-the-outside first corner overtake like the move that secured him victory at Estering in 2016 and almost lead race two, but Solberg held him off on the way to turn three. Team Peugeot Total’s Kevin Hansen made the best start from fifth on the grid on race four and was third quickest, in front of EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom, who had a race long battle with Peugeot’s Timmy Hansen in race three.
GRX Taneco Team’s Niclas Gronholm finished second to Kevin Hansen in race four and was fifth quickest, and EKS’ Andreas Bakkerud was sixth. Peugeot’s Timmy Hansen and Sebastien Loeb, GC Kompetition’s Anton Marklund and Eriksson completed the top ten.
FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 points leader Rokas Baciuska was quickest in Q1 in a Volland Racing Audi A1.
