  • Five-round FIA European Rallycross Championship set to run alongside World RX calendar.
  • FIA investment ushers in a new era for the championship.

The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has officially approved the 2025 FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) and FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX) calendars following an e-vote on 31 March, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter for the sport.

Rallycross fans worldwide can expect an electrifying 2025 season featuring high intensity racing on some of the sport’s most legendary circuits, with the excitement amplified by the addition of two brand-new venues. With Lousada, the ‘spiritual home’ of Rallycross in Portugal, and Finland’s all-new KymiRing circuit making their debut on the World RX and Euro RX calendars, this season is set to bring a fresh burst of energy to the championship.

The World RX calendar will feature six thrilling rounds, kicking off on 31 May in Lousada, Portugal. The championship then heads to the legendary Höljes Motorstadion in Sweden on 5-6 July, followed by fierce competition at Nyirád’s ‘Red Cauldron’ in Hungary on 19-20 July. The action continues at Finland’s KymiRing on 23-24 August before shifting to the renowned Istanbul Park in Türkiye on 20-21 September. A final event is expected to be added, with details currently being finalised with event organisers.

The FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX) will run across five rounds on the same dates as the World RX Championship, visiting Portugal, Sweden, Hungary, and Finland before concluding in Türkiye.

This announcement follows the FIA’s landmark decision to invest directly in both World RX and Euro RX, demonstrating its commitment to the long-term development of the sport.

The FIA’s investment in World RX underscores its broader commitment to strengthening the entire Rallycross progression pathway for off-road motor sport, working closely with National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) to establish clear and accessible pathways from grassroots competition to the sport’s highest level.

FIA Junior Road Sport Director Emilia Abel welcomed the new calendar, stating:

“The World RX and Euro RX Championships have immense potential, and the FIA’s direct investment ensures we can deliver a truly world-class product for competitors, sponsors, and fans. With a strong foundation in place, we have an exciting calendar featuring both iconic Rallycross venues plus new venues which will take the sport to a much wider audience.

With the support of Official Partners Volvo Construction Equipment and Hoosier Racing Tire Europe, and the FIA’s renewed commitment to delivering for the championship, the 2025 FIA World Rallycross Championship is set to deliver a season of intense racing and global expansion.”
