World RX - Kristofferson heats it up in Holjes
WorldRX - 2018 WorldRX of Sweden - Qualifying
Johan Kristoffersson is on fire! At one of the hottest events of the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship season so far, the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden driver was quickest again in Q2 by winning race four, his eighth qualifying win in a row to be overnight TQ (Top Qualifier) in the Intermediate Classification on day two at Holjes RX.
Norway’s Petter Solberg recovered from going off track in Q1 and was second quickest by winning race three to climb from sixth to fourth in the standings, as Team Peugeot Total’s Timmy Hansen set third quickest time in Q2 to match his Q1 performance and is third in the Intermediate Classification, behind EKS Audi Sport’s Andreas Bakkerud.
“The last eight qualifyings have been very, very good if we take Q1 and Q2 today. My start in Q1 was a bit crucial and I just made it with no margin. From there on the car didn’t feel really 100% but the time was there so it’s always a special feeling when you’re not 100% comfortable but the times were anyway quick. In Q2 we made some small changes and it felt a little bit better. I really had to push very hard because the boss was quick and I needed every single tenth I could get,” said Kristoffersson. “I think we have make another step in the right direction with the car, we have another two laps in the morning to try something to see if we can find a little bit more.”
EKS Audi Sport’s Mattias Ekstrom and Team Peugeot Total’s Sebastien Loeb complete the top six at the end of day two, with GRX Taneco’s Timur Timerzyanov, Peugeot’s Kevin Hansen, Team STARD’s Janis Baumnis, GC Kompetition’s Jerome Grosset-Janin and OlsbergsMSE’s Robin Larsson and Kevin Eriksson all inside the semi-final qualifying positions.
Belgium’s Guillaume De-Ridder is TQ after Q4 in the RX2 International Series, Norway’s Thomas Bryntesson is TQ after Q2 in Euro RX Supercar and Norway’s Sivert Svardal is TQ in Euro RX TouringCar.
