The Brazilian driver speaks about his new adventure in LMP2 with RGR Sport by Morand

After competing for Aston Martin in 2013 and 2014, Brazil’s Bruno Senna returns to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2016 competing in the LMP2 class in the RGR Sport by Morand Ligier-Nissan.  The 32-year-old former F1 driver and GP2 race winner will race alongside Mexico’s Ricardo Gonzalez and Portugal’s Filipe Albuquerque in the Mexican team.

Q: Welcome back to the WEC.  Tell us about your new team.

“It is great to be back in the WEC.  It’s fantastic to experience a really nice set up that we have here; it feels a bit like family, everybody is close together and the team is really excited about everything.   A Mexican team in a prototype series, so there is going to be lots of support for us when we go to the Mexican race. There is going to be a lot of work to do as the grid we are going to be competing against is super strong but we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

Q: Do you already know you teammates before the start of the season?

“I’ve known Filipe (Albuquerque) for a few years and he is giving me all his knowledge.  I actually met Ricardo (Gonzalez) for the first time this year; I knew who he was from previous years racing.   It is a fantastic team, we have a competitive car, a competitive team of mechanics and engineers who have good results on their own merits, so we’re looking pretty good for 2016.”

Q: So the team are here not just to promote the 6 Hours of Mexico

“Absolutely, we are here to win in LMP2.  When we started the project this was more certain but then the grid has grown and become a lot stronger.  Obviously the objective has not changed and the plan is still to beat everybody but from what we can see it is going to be a lot of work.”

Q: Are you looking forward to the first event at Silverstone?

“I am and I am also really happy to get back in a car.  Silverstone is a track I am very familiar with and a track I normally do very well at so I am really looking forward to race there in a downforce car, so it will be nice to go back there in a fast car.”
