Latest decisions of the WMSC concerning Rallycross
At its meeting in Munich (DEU) on 26 June, the World Motor Sport Council took the following decisions concerning Rallycross:
1) The Sporting Regulations of the 2014 World and European Rallycross Championships have been amended with clarifications indicating the types of Cooper tyres that must be used (8205M & 8225M for “dry” tyres, 8210M for “wet” tyres) and, in the case of SuperCar vehicles, the obligation to submit any spare turbo for identification and sealing as from the scrutineering of each Competition. 2) Article 279 of Appendix J 2014 stipulates that a handicap of 40 kilos will be applied to cars whose rear suspension includes pivot and/or mounting points of the shock absorbers which do not fit into the area defined in the regulations (Drawing 279-1).
3) The Rallycross Technical Regulations have undergone a full revision, coming into effect on 1 January 2015. The revision consists primarily of a full reorganisation of its articles, but also a broadening of possible engine options. From 2015, in addition to the engines currently used (engines of the make), “custom” engines will be permitted in order to anticipate the future difficulty of finding suitable 2-litre engine blocks in the manufacturers' range of engines. The complete 2015 version of Appendix J (a few points of which remain to be defined and will be finalised during the summer) can be viewed via this link.
