Members of the Formula 1 Commission gathered today, 25 April, in Geneva for the second meeting of 2023 ahead of the FIA Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix taking place this weekend. Top of the agenda were proposed updates to the Sprint format, which were pending approval for implementation at the upcoming event in Baku. The meeting was chaired by FIA Single­-Seater Director Nikolas Tombazis and Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali. The following is an overview of the key discussion points and decisions.

It’s lights out for the start of the 2023 FIA European Rallycross Championship, which gets underway at Hungary’s Nyirád Racing Center this weekend (April 29-30) – and the scene is set for close competition between proven champions, home heroes and some of the sport’s brightest rising stars.

The FIA Smart Driving Challenge is a global challenge that encourages everyday motorists to adopt smarter, cleaner, and safer driving behaviour. A collaboration between FIA and Greater Than, the FIA Smart Driving Challenge analyses real-time driving behaviour using Greater Than’s pattern AI technology. Participants in the 2022 Season achieved an average CO 2 saving of 12.3% vs the global average.*
