FIA ETRC Zolder 2014 preview
Each year, a huge crowd comes from all around Europe for the show on track and the particular atmosphere in the paddock.
Zolder is the 7th round of the championship and each year, we can feel the pressure rising between the top drivers… The Le Mans finale is not so far and nobody can say who will be Champion this year. Before Most, Norbert Kiss was first, Antonio Albacete second and Jochen Hahn third. But the Hungarian had a very bad weekend in Czech Republic and has fallen back to third… For sure, the gap is very close but his position is not as comfortable as it was 3 weeks ago. Before Zolder the standings are: Albacete 261 points, Hahn 249 and Kiss 246. The fight will be very interesting. Just behind them, the 2 Freightliner of Adam Lacko and David Vrsecky take every round some precious points. David won one rank in Most and is now fifth. Top 5 is really hard to join this year.
But let's talk about the only Belgian driver, Jean-Pierre Blaise. In Zolder, he will play at home with a lot of fans sheering for him. This year, Jean Pierre drives a MAN from Lion Truck Racing team. The yellow team will be in Zolder with 3 trucks because Artur Ardavichus will also participate. The Astana Driver will be one of the 3 race-by-race drivers on the entry list. The 2 others are Jérémy Robineau (FR) and Mathew Summerfield (GB) and it's a pleasure to welcome them in Zolder.
The next event will take place in Spain, at Jarama circuit near Madrid, the 4th and 5st of October.
