ETRC - 2017 Race of Jarama - Race 3 & 4

ETRC, Race of Jarama

Norbert Kiss and Antonio Albacete took a win each at Jarama on Sunday after two entertaining races which brought the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship to a perfect close.
After Adam Lacko crowned himself champion on Saturday, the competition was no less intense in the final two events as Kiss and Albacete thrilled a typically large Spanish crowd.
While Kiss sealed third position in the final point’s table, Albacete took his second win of the weekend to great joy of his adoring fans.

Race 3
Norbert Kiss took a commanding victory in race three at Jarama this afternoon to net his sixth victory of the 2017 FIA European Truck Racing Championship season.
Pole sitter Kiss led newly crowned champion Adam Lacko from the start and was able to pull out a healthy advantage immediately.
The Hungarian double champion effectively won the race in the opening laps and was able to thereafter control his pace and win comfortably.
Behind him there was action aplenty as new champion Adam Lacko had to fend off the advances of Jochen Hahn who looked for a way passed his Czech rival at an early stage. The pressure told on lap two when Hahn slipped through in his Hahn Racing Iveco.
This meant the main action in the race then came from the battle for the final podium position.
Lacko defended stoutly from Antonio Albacete (Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN), Steffi Halm (Reinert Racing MAN) and David Vrsecky (Buggyra Freightliner).
This scrap entertained the large Spanish crowd but there was little in the way of change in the order until Steffi Halm but a decisive move on Albacete at the hairpin on lap seven to snatch fourth position.

Race 4
Antonio Albacete took a highly popular second victory of the weekend at Jarama this afternoon after another accomplished performance in the final FIA ETRC race of the 2017 season.
The local hero, driving his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN, started from pole position and was never headed during the 12-lap encounter. It was the perfect way to sign off the season for the experienced Spaniard as he secured his third race win.
It was his second win of the weekend and he did it in style by taking the chequered flag with a huge 6.6 second margin over second placed Jochen Hahn.
Hahn’s fighting second position came after a fine late race move on stablemate Gerd Korber.
In his final ever FIA ETRC race, Team Schwabentruck Iveco’s Korber took a hugely popular final podium place. It was a perfect way to round out a 30 year career in the world’s leading truck racing series.
