Under the Wow! Women on Wheels team name, the two truck racers will take on four other FIA ETRC Team Championship pairings in their MAN trucks.

The initiative was confirmed last week and is sure to attract a large amount of attention with Lohr and Halm aiming for the podiums this season.

“It only came together recently after we saw that Steffi was entered in the full season,” Lohr confirmed to fiaetrc.comtoday. “Lutz (Bernau) was a big fan of the idea so we asked Steffi, who in turn put the idea to Réne (Reinert) and here we are, ready to go!”

“We aim to be a very strong team and we are targeting podiums for sure. We wanted to make the name of the team memorable to inspire and speak to the female spectators in truck racing,” continued Lohr. “Steffi and Réne already do a great job with their Women Behind the Wheel program, but this is more so we can get more female spectators to the races and taking an interest in what we do.”

Lohr will race again for the No.10 Lutz Bernau MAN truck this season while Steffi Halm will begin her campaign at Misano in the No.44 Reinert MAN entry.

For Lohr, who has a huge amount of experience in motorsport to call upon, Halm’s credentials are clear to mount a strong challenge for more success in 2016.

“I have been impressed with Steffi and what she has achieved in truck racing, after all she was the first woman to win a race last year,” said Lohr. “Now, my new goal is to be the second! I think we can perform really strongly and some podiums are achievable I’m sure.”

The Wow! Women on Wheels team will first be in action at Misano at the end of May. Ellen Lohr kick-starts her 2016 campaign at the Red Bull Ring, Spielberg on April 30/May 1.
