Round 1 of the FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship - Preview
The 67 Rally Moritz Costa Brava, Spain’s oldest and most important rally for classic cars, will be the host for the opening round of the 2019 FIA European Historic Sporting Rally Championship on the 15/16 March.
Organised by RallyClassics, the Rally Moritz Costa Brava will be based in the city of Girona (La Copa and Domeny-Fontajau), with the Hotel Gran Ultonia as an administrative base. The rally competitors must complete a total of 481.54 km, of which 139.95 km will be on ten special stages.
The provisional entry list includes teams and drivers from all over Europe competing in several championships, with a total of 184 entries across the eight championships, with 34 participating in Round 1 of the FIA EHSRC.
After the administrative and technical checks, the itinerary will begin on Friday 15th, starting from 15h45 for the Legend and 17h30 the other teams, from the start ramp located on Avenida Ramon Folch in Girona.
This first stage will be almost like an aperitif, one double-pass section, "Els Àngels" (15.678 km), with the first stage in daylight and the second completely in darkness. A total of 31.356 km.
The second and longest day of the rally, Saturday 16th March, will start early in the morning (08h00), to tackle the first four sections of the day: "Osor" (12.231 km), "Collsaplana" (16.135 km), "Grions" (10.195 km) and "Cladells" (15.737 km).
The competitors will regroup and service for 1 hour in the zone Domeny-Fontajau in Girona before starting the second loop. This consists of a second pass of the sections the competitors tackled in the morning.
At the end of the 67th edition of the Rally Moritz Costa Brava, the winners will head to the podium of the Avenida Ramon Folch, from where the rally began, starting from 18h35.
