ABOUT WEIZ
Weiz is a town of around 10000 inhabitants in the eastern part of Styria, 190km southwest of the Austrian capital Vienna.
The history of Weiz began with the first settlers arriving in Roman times. Throughout the Middle Ages Weiz was an important regional centre of commerce, becoming a district capital in 1850 and achieved city status in 1932.
The founding of ELIN in Weiz in the early 20th century led to the city becoming a centre of the electronics industry with products being supplied across the world. Weiz is now a strong economic centre undergoing innovative and dynamic development.
Weiz features beautiful churches and a diverse range of restaurants. Situated in the hilly Styrian landscape there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding countryside, including hiking near the Raabklamm or the Bärenschützklamm gorges.
