Cooper selected as Official Tyre Supplier for FIA World Rallycross Championship
29.08.16
The FIA World Motor Sport Council has announced Cooper as the Official Tyre Supplier for the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The appointment will run for three years, beginning in 2017.
Following the launch of the tender in April 2016, the FIA received offers from two different tyre companies.
The aim of selecting a single tyre supplier is to reduce the cost of participation for entrants in the championship, to ensure sporting equity and safety, to guarantee the best possible product, and to support the promotion of the Championship.
Ultimately, the FIA Off-Road Commission recommended Cooper to the World Motor Sport Council based on its strong technical understanding and history of rallycross tyre requirements, as well as its commitment to promotion of the Championship.
