THE ASSOCIATION OF IOC RECOGNISED INTERNATIONAL SPORTS FEDERATIONS SHARES SUPPORT FOR FIA UNITED AGAINST ONLINE ABUSE CAMPAIGN
The Association has also included the campaign within its safeguarding policy
At its recent General Assembly meeting in Lausanne, the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) has adopted its strategic plan while presenting its range of services to members, including within it the FIA’s United Against Online Abuse initiative, sharing its support and integrating it into its safeguarding policy under the ‘Governance & Integrity’ pillar.
The ARISF represents 39 members – all international sports federations recognised by the IOC – and through its members represents millions of individuals and fans worldwide. The association’s mission is to unite, promote, represent and support IOC recognised International Sports Federations in reaching their objectives, co-ordinate their common interests and goals, while preserving their autonomy.
The inclusion of the UAOA initiative within their safeguarding policy underlines the relevance of this campaign. Founded two years ago by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and supported by the FIA Foundation, the coalition was launched to combat online harassment and hate speech in sport, and this support from ARISF will be the next step to opening the doors to many more areas of cooperation on this issue such as research, training and member support.
