FIA to launch Girls on Track and CareerShift 2025 across new championships, empowering the next generation of motor sport talent
The FIA will partner with the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), as well as FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Kumho FIA TCR World Tour and Formula SAE to host exclusive FIA Girls on Track and FIA CareerShift events during the 2025 season
The first ever FIA Girls on Track event within the FIA World Endurance Championship will take place this weekend in Imola
This is part of the ongoing expansion of the FIA’s career programmes, in line with the Federation’s ambition to double motor sport participation and improve diversity and inclusion in sport
In 2024, more than 2,500 girls took part in 27 FIA Girls On Track events

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body for world motor sport and the Federation for mobility organisations globally, will launch FIA Girls On Track events at the FIA World Endurance Championship in Imola, Italy this weekend (17-20 April). Simultaneously, the FIA will launch FIA CareerShift, to encourage young adults to pursue careers in motor sport.
FIA Girls On Track was first launched by the FIA in 2019, and aims to inspire 8–18-year-old girls to consider a career in motor sport. The programme offers participants activities, workshops and guidance on routes into the sport, as well as the opportunity to meet women in motor sport and learn more about their careers and personal stories. Last year, more than 2,500 girls participated in the Girls on Track programme across 27 different events held in partnership with Formula E.
FIA CareerShift, which was first launched in November 2024 at Bahrain, is aimed at 16-24 year olds interested in pursuing a range of careers within the world of motor sport. Participants have access to an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at an FIA World Championship event, with tailored workshops focused on sporting, sustainability, media, medical and event management aspects of the industry.
Expanding the programmes to reach more people
The Imola events are the first in a full season programme, which will see the FIA and WEC bring FIA Girls On Track and FIA CareerShift to thousands of young people around the world. The partnership marks a key step in the ongoing expansion of the Federation’s career programmes across new geographies and championships.
The FIA will be introducing exclusive FIA Girls on Track events at WEC, WRC and Kumho FIA TCR World Tour this year to inspire and empower young female talents in motor sport. FIA CareerShift will be featured at WEC, Formula E, WRC, Kumho FIA TCR World Tour and at an exclusive event co-hosted with Formula SAE (a competition which challenges students to design, built and compete with single-seater cars), bringing a new wave of talent and enthusiasm to each championship.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, said: “The FIA remains committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in motor sport and the new partnership with the FIA World Endurance Championship to host CareerShift and Girls on Track events this season is a testament to that mission.
By providing young people with hands-on experience and direct access to industry professionals, we are paving the way for the next generation. This initiative is about breaking barriers and creating opportunities, ensuring that motor sport is a sport for all.”
Burcu Çetinkaya, the Chair for the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission, said: “It is brilliant to see the Girls on Track programmes growing across the globe. Over the last five years, we’ve seen the way that the programme can broaden girls’ horizons and open their eyes to new opportunities and careers at a critical point in their education. I look forward to expand the programme further.”
Frédéric Lequien, FIA WEC CEO, said: “We are delighted to welcome FIA Girls on Track and FIA CareerShift to the 2025 FIA WEC season. As a championship that prides itself on diversity and inclusivity, we greatly support such initiatives. We look forward to offering the participants an exciting and engaging insight into every aspect of our wonderful series.”
Arne Dirks, CMO, WRC Promoter GmbH, said: “We look forward to welcoming FIA Girls on Track in WRC, further enhancing the good work already being done through initiatives such as Beyond Rally Women’s Driver Development Programme to bring even more females to the stages. Following on from this, FIA Career Shift will display the multitude of career paths for all ages and genders in rallying when they will join us.”
Nunzia Corvino, COO at WSC, said: "We are delighted to welcome the FIA Girls on Track programme to the 2025 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour for the very first time. At WSC, we strongly believe in the importance of creating tangible opportunities for youth and young women to engage with motorsport—not just as fans, but as future engineers, event staff, and leaders. Touring car racing offers a dynamic and accessible platform, and we’re excited to support this initiative in close collaboration with the FIA to inspire the next generation of talent."
