The Hyundai i20 WRC crew of Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul claimed a second career victory in the FIA World Rally Championship when they won Rally Italia Sardegna today. The Belgians headed Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila to win the sixth round of the series by 24.8 seconds. Their win also means there have been five different winners in as many rounds. Reigning World Champions Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia took third, extending their lead in the Championship in the process.

Thierry Neuville heads in to the final day of Rally Italia Sardegna leading the field after a titanic battle with Jari-Matti Latvala that sees the rivals split by 16.1 seconds with 40.26 competitive kilometres remaining on Sunday. Sébastien Ogier has maintained third, the Frenchman’s position secured when nearest challengers Mads Østberg and Andreas Mikkelsen retired.
