En el FIA Historic Formula 3 European Cup volverán a participar automóviles que se fabricaron y compitieron entre 1971 y 1984 (ambos incluidos). Habrá dos categorías, ambas para vehículos de hasta dos litros. La categoría 1 es para los automóviles de 1971 a 1978, mientras que la categoría 2 será para automóviles más recientes, de 1979 a 1984. Gracias a esta Copa volverán algunas escuderías legendarias como Chevron, Ralt, March y Argo, entre otras. Además, estos monoplazas fueron pilotados por nombres igualmente legendarios, como Elio de Angelis, Ayrton Senna, Nelson Piquet y Alain Prost.
