This year’s FIA Hill Climb Masters was a fantastic success! The third edition, played out at Gubbio in Italy, was a hit with participants and spectators alike.

We take a look at how the 2018 FIA Hill Climb Masters is shaping up with today’s fastest test runs by Christian Merli (Category 2), Will Hall (Category 4), Michal Ratajczyk (Category 3) and Lucio Perrugini (Category 1).

This Friday was “installation day” for the drivers taking part in the FIA Hill Climb Masters. In glorious Italian sunshine, at the foot of the medieval city of Gubbio, the teams erected their awnings and paddock structures, and their cars passed scrutineering. The competitive action begins tomorrow from 10am with the first of two practice heats.

On 14 October in Gubbio (ITA), the FIA Hill Climb Masters will not only reward the top four fastest drivers in their respective categories, but will also honour the most consistent and regular team among the 20 national teams entered.

With 175 drivers registered and 20 national teams ready to battle it out for the Nations Cup, the 2018 edition of the FIA Hill Climb Masters is likely to be full of promise and passion.

There was no need to wait until the last round of the season to find out who would be crowned the 2018 FIA European Hill Climb Champions. During the 11th and penultimate round, the Slovenian event at Ilirska Bistrica unveiled Christian Merli and Lukas Vojacek as the winners of Categories 2 and 1, respectively.

After missing the last four rounds, Simone Faggioli marked his return to business with a fine victory in the 9th event of the FIA European Hill Climb Championship, at St Ursanne in Switzerland.

For drivers eligible for the FIA Hill Climb Masters, which will take place in Gubbio (ITA) from 12-14 October, the first concrete phase will start on 17 August when registration opens. As in 2014 and 2016, entry will be free for all selected drivers!
