Up front the attacks of Lynn and the two safety car periods did nothing to ruffle the Swedish driver’s composure. Rosenqvist is determined to fight tooth and nail for the title till the bitter end and he took the chequered flag in first place for the seventh time this season. He added another 25 points to his tally, while Marciello failed to score. The Swede is now only 34.5 points behind his Italian rival. 

 

“This championship is far from over,” smiled Rosenqvist. “In fact, Raffaele and I haven’t gone head-to-head very often this year as when one of us has a good day it’s generally the opposite case for the other. That’s what happened again today. I made a good start; I pulled out a lead and then the two deployments of the safety car didn’t make my job any easier as my tyres started to go off unlike Alex Lynn’s. Still to score fifty points when Raffaele’s scored only twelve is a pretty good day’s work!” 

 

Lynn consolidated his third place overall by finishing second in front of Daniil Kvyat. “This time it was my turn not to start on new tyres,” explained the Russian. “So I had to play a waiting game. After the second safety car intervention I thought that I might be able to take advantage of the battle between Felix and Alex, but I didn’t have the slightest opportunity.”

 

Jordan King’s (Carlin) fourth place is yet another good result which has moved him up to sixth place in the championship ratings. Luis Felipe Derani (Fortec Motorsports) came home fifth in front of Harry Tincknell (Carlin), Sven Müller (Van Amersfoort Racing), Tom Blomqvist (Eurointernational), Mitchell Gilbert (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) and Alexander Sims (Threebon with T-Sport). The best Raffaele Marciello could do in the second race was sixteenth!
