One of the neutralisation periods decided the outcome of the race as 12 drivers were given a 20-second penalty after the finish for not respecting the yellow flags. Thus victory went to Tom Blomqvist (Eurointernational) followed by Harry Tincknell (Carlin), André Rudersdorf (ma-con), Eddie Cheever (Prema Powerteam) and Marciello. 

 

“It’s sure I’d liked to have won on the track but I won’t say no to this victory!” smiled Blomqvist. “It’s very rare to finish eighth and then be declared the winner. Honestly, I lost ground on the others during the yellow flag period. I was a bit upset after the race, but as things have turned out I was right to follow orders. It’s my first win of the season, but it’s not the most satisfying one. Now I have to score my first real victory!”  

 

Felix Rosenqvist doesn’t appear in the classification. After qualifying the Swede was sent to the back of the grid by the stewards following a problem after the analysis of a fuel sample. The team has appealed this decision so he was allowed to start from pole and will be included - or not - in the classification depending on the outcome of the appeal.
