Host nation Spain on top so far at FIA Motorsport Games

Spain has started the final day of the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games (Sunday 27 October) on top of the medal table after it struck gold in Rally2 Tarmac and Rally4 Tarmac during an action-packed Saturday in Valencia.

Having already celebrated its first FIA Motorsport Games gold medals by triumphing in Rally2 Gravel (José Antonio Suárez/Alberto Iglesias, pictured above) and Rally4 Gravel (Sergi Pérez/Axel Coronado) on Friday, the host nation added to its medal haul in the Spanish sunshine following victories for Alejandro Cachón/Borja Rozada and Pérez/Coronado, who secured gold for the second time in as many days.

Italy claimed a gold medal in Historic Rally Gravel on Friday before adding another gold in Historic Rally Tarmac on Saturday, Andrea Zivian/Nicola Arena (below) the successful pairing on both occasions.


Turkey and Lithuania completed the Rally2 Gravel podium with Slovakia and Brazil picking up silver and bronze in Rally4 Gravel. United Kingdom and Czech Republic won silver and bronze respectively in Historic Rally Gravel.

In the Rally2 Tarmac event, Turkey took silver ahead of Denmark with Netherlands and Germany second and third in Rally4 Tarmac. Spain and Sweden won silver and bronze in Historic Rally Gravel.

Germany beat United Kingdom to the GT gold on Saturday (below) after the latter received two penalties for exceeding track limits. Switzerland took the bronze medal.


Brazil’s Igor De Oliveira Rodrigues triumphed in Esports GT with Germany and Czech Republic taking the silver and bronze medals. And there was more Brazilian success in Esports F4 when Luis Felipe de Sà Tavares finished first ahead of Czech Republic and South Korea.

Belgium repeated its Karting Endurance gold from 2022 by finishing 16 seconds clear of Spain, which edged the United Kingdom for the silver medal by 0.064s.

Sunday’s packed timetable at Circuit Ricardo Tormo and the nearby Aspar Circuit will decide a host of medals in a variety of categories including Auto Slalom (below), Cross Car, Drifting, Formula 4 and Karting.

The Closing Ceremony is scheduled to take place in the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia from 20:30 hrs local time.
